About Our Founder

Julie Weyandt
(formerly Julie Christopher)

What Do Others Say About Julie?
Julie is the founder and former director of Beauty for Ashes Counseling,  an outgrowth of her own personal healing journey. She is a dynamic seminar and workshop presenter. Since 1982, Julie has used her skills to equip churches, women's groups, and others to minister to people impacted by sexual abuse and related issues. She is available for one-on-one consultation and group work. (Click here to request Julie for one-on-one or a group consultation.)

Julie not only encourages others to heal, she is dedicated to teaching others how to help people going through issues concerning sexual abuse and other life crises. For this reason, she developed and published the Beauty for Ashes Thirteen Week Recovery Group Guide. This manual has been used and continues to be used by Christian recovery groups for adult sexual abuse survivors.

Julie is a licensed professional counselor (LPC). This and other training allows her to offer multi-faceted care - that is, care that addresses issues concerning one's body, mind, and spirit. Some examples of training that enhance her counseling training are:

  • She is a certified Stephen Leader. Stephen Ministries, based in St. Louis, MO, trains its leaders to give quality one-on-one Christian care to people going through life crises such as divorce, life threatening illnesses, bereavement, etc.

  • She is a life coach and member of the Christian Coaches Network. She trained as a Life Coach through the Institute for Life Coach Training with Patrick Williams. She was mentored by Chris McCluskey who is president of Coaching for Christian Living and co-author of the book,  When Two Become One.

  • Julie graduated from the Ashland Theological Seminary with a Masters in Clinical Pastoral Counseling (MACPC). She is licensed as a professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Ohio. Her counseling training includes assessing and treating disorders in children such as Asperger's Syndrome and ADHD (attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder) and assessing and treating children impacted by sexual abuse.

Julie's research interests include dialectic behavioral treatment (a technique used to help people with rapid mood changes and self-destructive tendencies focus on emotional modulation, self soothing skills, problem solving, and overcome self destructive tendencies), ADHD, anger management, child sexual abuse, Asperger's Syndrome, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Julie has been involved as director or as a member of various boards and organizations. The following is just a few of her many organizational activities:

She is a past Regional Director of the National Association of Christian Recovery.

In 1994, she was the administrator of Access Counseling (now closed), a Christian counseling service based in Toledo, Ohio.

From 1992 to 1994, she served as Pastoral Ministries Coordinator at the Mansfield Assembly of God Church.
